Merritt from California asked us… I have recently had installed your Liftmaster LA500 solar gate opener. I have had to purchase a KNOX Key Switch and mounting plate to attach to the unit. It allows the fire department and law enforcement to key in and open the gate, will I impact your warranty by attaching the KNOX device directly to your opener control box? Is there a standard way to attach the KNOK switch?
Answer: Well Merritt, the issue here is the fact that you need to place the KNOX Box in a visible and easily accessible place for the FD and PD in your municipality to locate… I am assuming that the control box inside of your property is not the best place, normally these are installed on the front of the gooseneck where your telephone entry or keypad is mounted, but regardless it needs to be on the outside of your gate.
